Psychologists are experts in human behaviour, having studied the brain, memory, learning and human development and the process determining how people think, feel, behave and react. Our Psychologists apply their expertise using reliable and scientifically supported methods.
At Axis, all Psychologists are able to provide treatment for a range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, phobias, postnatal depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, pain management techniques and adjustment to injury counselling.
Axis is accepting GP referrals for Psychological services through a Mental Health Care Plan.
Sometimes there are crossroads in life where we realise that our previous methods of coping are not enough for us to continue to be able to function as well as before. Sometimes these moments are clearly connected to an event or a loss.
Sometimes there are cumulative factors that wear us down over time. Our mind can start to race, we can withdraw from things we used to find enjoyable, we find that our fuse is shorter and sometimes we feel so overwhelmed it is hard to imagine how we will cope.
When the way we are thinking and feeling starts to impact our everyday social, vocational or emotional functioning (for example difficulty concentrating at work, not going out with friends or feeling like we are overreacting to things we never used to), it can be helpful to seek out Psychological support. Our Psychologists aim to provide a safe space for people to learn about their values, thoughts, emotional triggers and behaviours and to work collaboratively to improve Psychological functioning. We have a holistic approach to caring for mental health and consider all the physical, mental and social factors that contribute to each individuals experience. Axis adopts a patient-centered approach to therapy and empowers individuals and groups to take an active role in their treatment.
Axis provides specialist Psychology treatment for people experiencing psychological distress related to an illness or injury, employment issues and chronic pain.
